| The Elder Geek on Vista
Commentary What
This Site "Is" and "Isn't"
The Elder Geek on Windows Vista will
be structured and built very similarly to my other
site, The Elder Geek on Windows XP. As I explore and
use the various beta builds of Vista leading up to
the final release in late 2006 I'll write about
those experiences, document what I like and dislike,
and gather articles and information that will help
support future Vista users. It will be a slow
process, just as it was with the XP site, but in
time the site will become a valuable resource and a
place where you can turn for factual, real life
advice and information that hasn't been filtered
through publicity and advertising machines. For the
time being there will be a lot of blank spaces on
the site menu's, but they will fill in rapidly once
Vista is finally released.
I don't work for Microsoft or any other technology,
news agency, or publishing company. I simply enjoy
computers and technology and spend the majority of
my time messing with and writing about them. There
is nothing 'official' about this site. I don't have
any inside sources at Microsoft, I don't attend
conferences sponsored by companies, nor do I have a
huge organization of people feeding me the latest
rumors and news tidbits on a daily basis. There are
a lot of sites that specialize in those aspects and
I'll mention and link to them frequently. I am a
member of the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) and
find it to be a valuable resource for keeping up
with future developments, but what you see and read
on this site is 100% my thoughts and opinions from
experimenting with Vista. Nothing more, nothing
less. |
